Darren M. Ah Chong - RA
Aloha! Thank you for taking this opportunity to learn a little bit more about me. As you already know, my name is Darren Ah Chong. I was born on the Island of Oahu, and raised on Hawaiian Homestead Lands in Papakole`a. At the age of 5, our family moved to Ewa Beach, on the west side of Oahu, where I spent most of my teenage and early adult years growing up. I am a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools, and the University of Hawai`i at Manoa, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. The majority of my college education was personally financed by working full and part-time jobs, while I attended school. Upon graduating from the University of Hawai`i, I began my career as a Management Trainee with First Hawaiian Bank. While with the bank, I was promoted from Management Trainee to Consumer Loan Representative. After just two years, I was accepted into the bank’s prestigious Business Banking Associates Program, and shortly thereafter, relocated to Hilo, on the Island of Hawai`i, as a Commercial Loan Officer. After 5 years with the bank, I took the role as a different type of officer, and was accepted as a Police Recruit for the County of Hawai`i Police Department. During training, I was nominated by me peers to serve as Recruit Class President, and also graduated with top honor, receiving the “Most Outstanding Recruit” Award. I served the community as a Police Officer for a period of three years. My diverse background paved the way for an opportunity to utilize my education and experience, and to give back to my alma mater. In January, 2002, I was selected as the Director of Operations for the Kamehameha Schools Hawai`i Campus on the Big Island, where I provided day to day leadership for all fiscal and budgetary aspects of the school, as well as the Operations Division, which included the Physical Plant Department, Security Department, Food Services Department, Transportation Department, and Facilities Use Department. As a member of the Campus Leadership Team, my goal was always to do what was “pono,” which in Hawaiian means “right” or “proper,” in order to achieve the school’s mission. Throughout the years, the world of real estate has always fascinated me. So much so, that I’ve since made real estate my full-time profession. My passion for learning, and being the best in my field, has lead me to enroll in numerous continuing education courses and real estate seminars. I’ve recently completed a three-day Accredited Buyers Representative (ABR) Seminar, which provided the most up-to-date training on how best to assist buyers during a real estate transaction. I have also started on the path to acquiring two separate Realtor Designations. The first is the Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designation, and the second is the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation. To obtain both designations will require approximately two years of classes and dedication. Speaking of dedication, below is a list of various community organizations which I belong to, or have contributed to in the past:
As for hobbies, they include spending time with my wife and children, reading, playing drums, and playing golf. I am also the founder of a home-based company engaged in providing custom-made, custom-fitted golf clubs. I obtained my Professional Club making Certificate from Golfsmith International, Austin, Texas, in 1995. Please allow my background, experience, and training to work for you. Call or send an email today! I’m looking forward to working with you. Contact Me |
